The AWS VC Business Development team doesn't cut checks, and we don't look for equity, but we do invest virtual currency (up to $100K max), people, time, technology, experience, best practices, and relationships to remove obstacles and open doors on behalf of startups.
We typically start with advisory help around technology, but there's also much we can do commercially around sales, marketing, and BD when appropriate. Our attitude is that anything we can do to help startups succeed over the long-term is a net gain for everyone. We don’t care what you're billing, and we don’t care how long it takes. We’re in it for the long haul alongside you.
Our team is comprised primarily of exited founders/operators and former investors. The startup-facing part of our job is to learn from the founders/management team what key objectives and challenges exist at a given point of time, map those against our capabilities across the breadth of Amazon (not just AWS), and then follow through in delivering that assistance. We’re not looking for anything in return other than the satisfaction of helping transformative companies increase their likelihood of success.
